    Welcome

Many people ask how did you come up with the name Dutch Acres, well to be very truthful it was quite natural. My wife Kay is of Dutch Ancestry.

Kay and I were married in 1966. A few years later we started our own farming operation. The farm was built on a portion of ground that we purchased from her father (Dutch Vandenberg), which the name Dutch Acres came from. We milked purebred dairy cattle for many years. We then started a Farm Equipment Dealership named Dutch Acres Equipment, which is still in operation in Franklin, IN. Franklin is located 25 miles south of Indianapolis, IN. We are located about 5 miles east of I-65.

Our family has been involved in the horse business for many years, showing and breeding both Paint and Quarter Horses. In 2002 we became interested in Haflingers. It started out to be just a team of horses, but now we are involved in breeding and showing as well. Our accomplishments in 2006 have been very rewarding. We have had National Champion Yearling Pleasure Filly, National Champion 2-year-old Pleasure Mare, and Reserve National Champion Mare. We have found that the Haflingers are a family affair, our son Chad and his wife Janet are also showing Haflingers with their three children, Jack, Sable and Will.

Please give us a call. We at Dutch Acres Haflingers would enjoy showing you our horses when you are in the area.
